Materials You'll Need:

Ceiling fan remote control kit
Screwdriver
Wire strippers
Electrical tape

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Turn off the power to the ceiling fan at the circuit breaker. 2. Remove the canopy from the ceiling fan. The canopy is the decorative cover that hides the mounting screws. It is usually held in place by a few screws. 3. Locate the receiver module. The receiver module is a small box that is usually attached to the side of the fan motor. It is responsible for receiving the signals from the remote control. 4. Connect the wires from the remote control kit to the receiver module. The wires from the remote control kit will be color-coded. Connect the red wire to the red terminal on the receiver module, the black wire to the black terminal, and the white wire to the white terminal. 5. Secure the receiver module. Once the wires are connected, secure the receiver module to the ceiling fan using the screws provided in the remote control kit. 6. Reinstall the canopy. Place the canopy back over the fan motor and secure it with the screws. 7. Turn on the power to the ceiling fan. Once the power is turned back on, you will be able to use the remote control to operate the fan.
